BETA Club
Directed by Amanda Jedlicka and Pamela Zickefoose

The purpose of the Magill and National BETA club is to "promote the ideals of honesty, service, morality, ethical conduct, and leadership among elementary and secondary school students, to reward meritorious achievement," and to encourage peer leaders and highly motivated students in and out of the classroom and community. The motto of The National Beta Club is "Let Us Lead By Serving Others."

Magill Chorus

The purpose of the J. C. Magill Chorus is to give interested students a chance to prepare challenging vocal music and to gain performance experience. The chorus will give December and March performances for parents, the student body, and the community. Four students from the chorus will be chosen to represent J. C. Magill in the Gwinnett County Elementary Honor Chorus in a special March performance for the community.

Environmental Club

Environmental Club meets Tuesday afternoons with a rotating schedule.
Week 1: KK, 1st, and 2nd grade
Week 2: 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade
Week 3: KK, 1st, and 2nd grade
Week 4: 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade


Comet Ambassadors
Directed by Trina Clinkscales

Fifth graders are nominated by teachers as being responsible, friendly students who are trained to meet, greet and take new students and parents on a tour of our school and to answer any questions about Magill. Many of these students are bilingual and are able to facilitate communication when we have families who don't speak English. Ambassadors are trained early in September and rotate their duties as we have new students and families moving into our school.

Pageturners

Pageturners promotes reading with students who desire to share their love of reading with others.

Planned activities will include the following:
· Write to an author national competition
· Participate in Pageturners Quiz Bowl
· Chance to participate in Gwinnett County Quiz Bowl

Other Activities may include:
· Lots of discussions about the books!
· Use of graphic organizer to record information from the titles read
· Video taping skits to promote reading or book talks

Peer Leaders

Peer Leaders are 5th graders who are selected because they display leadership abilities such as high academic achievement, responsibility and respect toward others. Our purpose is to become mentors to others, plan and lead Red Ribbon Week activities, tutor students and provide support to JC Magill students and faculty.

Safety Patrol

Magill Safety Patrols are 5th grade students who have exhibited the character traits of responsibility and respectfulness. They have also proven themselves in the classroom by maintaining an A - B average. The Safety Patrols help keep our hallways safe and orderly in the mornings as students arrive and afternoons during dismissal.

School Store

Cafeteria

The Eagle Emporium is open every day in the cafeteria from 7:45 - 8:10. We sell school supplies for $1.00 or less. The store is run by 4th and 5th grade FOCUS students. Proceeds go to worthy projects, teaching materials, and other needs in the school.

Student Council

JC Magill Student Council is a group of students nominated by their peers to represent their class as a role-model student. The goal of Student Council is to provide responsible students with an opportunity to help lead their class by making good choices, help with recycling, and modeling good behavior. We will meet the first Tuesday of every month and have discussions on school rules, class rules, and model behavior and we will be doing jobs around the school to help keep our school the very best!

Wittzle Pro

The Witzzle Pro Club will provide students with an opportunity to enhance their mathematical problem-solving skills. The game itself promotes mental math computation and encourages open-ended thinking. Game strategies associated with Witzzle Pro include a variety of mathematical strategies that are differentiated according to the student's abilities and skills. This club will allow students to competitively improve their problem-solving, accuracy and speed when solving math problems. Witzzle Pro makes math fun to learn and challenges student learning on all levels!
